Fine until you need complexity

A pay run for twelve people takes about ten minutes. That said, CIS subcontractors are not handled here, which confused us at first and reporting is basic if your accountant wants detail.

Pros

A pay run for twelve people takes about ten minutes.

Cons

CIS subcontractors are not handled here, which confused us at first.

Auto enrolment finally stopped worrying me

HMRC notices come straight into the pay run, and Copilot caught a net pay that had moved 40 percent before I committed. No complaints so far.

Pros

HMRC notices come straight into the pay run.

Cons

Corrections to a previous period are more awkward than they should be.

Simple payroll, does the job

No payroll training and I have never missed an RTI deadline. That said, the five employee inclusion means the real cost is higher than the headline and CIS subcontractors are not handled here, which confused us at first.

Pros

No payroll training and I have never missed an RTI deadline.

Cons

The five employee inclusion means the real cost is higher than the headline.

Anomaly checking earns its keep

Auto enrolment assessment happens without me remembering to do it. Only real gripe is that corrections to a previous period are more awkward than they should be.

Good for a small team

No payroll training and I have never missed an RTI deadline, and payslips self serve so nobody emails me asking for one. No complaints so far.

Pros

No payroll training and I have never missed an RTI deadline.

Cons

Not enough depth if you run multiple pay frequencies.
