Accessibility statement
What we have built in, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Effective 4 August 2026
Our commitment
Assaylist is for anyone choosing business software, and that includes people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or rely on high contrast. We treat accessibility as part of building a page, not a pass someone does afterwards.
We have obligations under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage. This statement sets out where we currently stand.
Conformance status
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The public site is designed against that standard, and the following are in place across every page:
- A “Skip to content” link as the first focusable element on every page.
- A visible focus indicator on every interactive element. We never remove an outline without replacing it.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Star ratings, donut charts, rating bars and sentiment bars all expose their values as text or an
aria-label, and every chart is accompanied by the same data in a list or table. - Colour is never the only way information is conveyed — ticks and crosses accompany green and grey throughout.
- A real
<label>on every form field. We never use a placeholder in place of a label, and errors are announced politely and linked to their field. - Decorative motion sits behind
prefers-reduced-motion, so animations stop for anyone who has asked their system to reduce motion. - One
h1per page, with heading levels that never skip. - Filters, sorting and pagination are ordinary links with real URLs.
Known limitations
We would rather list these than claim a clean sheet. As at 4 August 2026:
- Screenshot lightbox. The full-screen screenshot viewer is keyboard operable but its zoom and pan controls are not yet fully described to screen readers. Every screenshot is supplementary to the written review, never the only source of information.
- Vendor logos. We reproduce vendors' official marks unmodified, so we cannot guarantee the contrast of a logo against its background. Each logo is always accompanied by the product name as text.
- Brand-coloured text. Our brand violet measures 3.96:1 against white. That clears the 3:1 threshold WCAG sets for user-interface components and for large text, but not the 4.5:1 threshold for body-size text — so we never use it for text on a light background. Every brand-coloured word on the site is rendered in the darker partner shade, which measures 6.26:1.
- White labels on solid brand buttons inherit that same 3.96:1 ratio. It satisfies the 3:1 requirement for user-interface components, and the larger labels also meet the large-text threshold, but the small uppercase button labels fall short of 4.5:1. We are reviewing that treatment. In the meantime no button relies on colour alone — each is identified by its text, its shape and its position.
- Third-party content. Where a vendor's own site is linked, we have no control over its accessibility.
How we test
Before we consider a page finished we check it:
- Using the keyboard only, from the skip link to the footer.
- With a screen reader — NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
- With automated tooling (axe) for the issues automation can catch.
- At 200% browser zoom and at a 320 px viewport width.
- In both light and dark themes.
Automated tools catch perhaps a third of real problems, which is why the manual passes are the ones that count.
