Worth it to not think about payroll

They deal with HMRC so we never have to, and the pay run just happens and we approve it. No complaints so far.

Pros

They deal with HMRC so we never have to.

Cons

A managed service costs more than running it yourself.

The advice line earns its keep

Handing payroll over entirely was the best decision we made. That said, you give up some direct control by outsourcing and a managed service costs more than running it yourself.

Pros

Handing payroll over entirely was the best decision we made.

Cons

You give up some direct control by outsourcing.

Takes the stress away

Decades of bureau experience shows in how little goes wrong. The employment law advice has saved us more than the fee twice now.

Pros

Decades of bureau experience shows in how little goes wrong.

Cons

Changes go through the bureau rather than being instant.

Worth it to not think about payroll

A managed service costs more than running it yourself, and the software itself is less slick than the modern cloud tools. They deal with HMRC so we never have to, which is about the only positive.

Pros

They deal with HMRC so we never have to.

Cons

A managed service costs more than running it yourself.

Good if you would rather outsource

The employment law advice has saved us more than the fee twice now, and they deal with HMRC so we never have to. A managed service costs more than running it yourself, but we live with it.

Good if you would rather outsource

The employment law advice has saved us more than the fee twice now. Only real gripe is that a managed service costs more than running it yourself.
