Fine for a simple trade

HMRC submission went through first time with no error messages, and quarterly updates take about ten minutes once the bank feed is set up. No complaints so far.

Pros

HMRC submission went through first time with no error messages.

Cons

There is no balance sheet, so my accountant still does a year end job.

Sorted my quarterly updates

Importing two years of history from a spreadsheet was fiddly, and reporting is thin if you want anything beyond income and expenses. Setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before, which is about the only positive.

Pros

Setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before.

Cons

Importing two years of history from a spreadsheet was fiddly.

Simple enough for a first timer

Categorising expenses on the phone while sat in the van works well. Quarterly updates take about ten minutes once the bank feed is set up.

Simple enough for a first timer

Setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before, and the tax estimate updates as you go so January is not a shock. Importing two years of history from a spreadsheet was fiddly, but we live with it.

Pros

Setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before.

Cons

Importing two years of history from a spreadsheet was fiddly.

Simple enough for a first timer

Categorising expenses on the phone while sat in the van works well. It does not try to be a full ledger, which is exactly why I can use it.

Pros

Categorising expenses on the phone while sat in the van works well.

Cons

The mobile app occasionally logs me out mid entry.

Good starting point, you will move on

My accountant can see the figures without me emailing spreadsheets. The tax estimate updates as you go so January is not a shock.

Fine for a simple trade

You outgrow it the moment you register for VAT. There is no balance sheet, so my accountant still does a year end job. Looking at alternatives.

Pros

HMRC submission went through first time with no error messages.

Cons

You outgrow it the moment you register for VAT.

Cheap and it files

Setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before. Only real gripe is that reporting is thin if you want anything beyond income and expenses.
