Does the MTD job without the ceremony

Quarterly updates take about ten minutes once the bank feed is set up, and setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before. No complaints so far.

Pros

Quarterly updates take about ten minutes once the bank feed is set up.

Cons

The mobile app occasionally logs me out mid entry.

Simple enough for a first timer

My accountant can see the figures without me emailing spreadsheets, and setup took an evening and I have never used accounting software before. The mobile app occasionally logs me out mid entry, but we live with it.

Pros

My accountant can see the figures without me emailing spreadsheets.

Cons

The mobile app occasionally logs me out mid entry.

Cheap and it files

The tax estimate updates as you go so January is not a shock. Only real gripe is that no payroll at all, which caught me out when I took someone on.

Works for a one person business

The free tier covered everything I needed until I registered for VAT. Quarterly updates take about ten minutes once the bank feed is set up.

Pros

The free tier covered everything I needed until I registered for VAT.

Cons

There is no balance sheet, so my accountant still does a year end job.

HMRC submission went through first time with no error messages, and it does not try to be a full ledger, which is exactly why I can use it. You outgrow it the moment you register for VAT, but we live with it.

Does the MTD job without the ceremony

It does not try to be a full ledger, which is exactly why I can use it, and categorising expenses on the phone while sat in the van works well. No complaints so far.

Pros

It does not try to be a full ledger, which is exactly why I can use it.

Cons

There is no balance sheet, so my accountant still does a year end job.
